After a busy and successful 2013 Becci gives her horses the holiday they really deserved and goes on a well deserved two week break abroad herself. As Becci reflects on her year and starts planning for 2014 she has to say goodbye to her gorgeous Candy Blue who is now settled in her new home.
I was very sad to see Candy go after producing her myself from just four years old...We had four wonderful years together. She won me my first ever BE event and a Novice one at that with an incredible dressage of 23.5. I have achieved so much on her and loved the fact she kept me so calm at competitions and teaching me that show jumping could be fun. She gained my full trust in that she knew her job and could jump clear rounds without me having to place her at every fence. She helped me out and I felt I could really rely on her to jump that all important double clear. Her calm genuine attitude helped me massively and I soon passed that feeling onto my other young horse Lady who also gained some great results this year.
I am now looking forward to the challenges of 2014 and what it may bring. Having just the one horse has allowed me to really concentrate on Lady; consequently I have seen much improvement already. We have had extra dressage training with a new trainer and have taught her more advanced movements which she has grasped so quickly. I am really looking forward and so excited about getting Lady out in the New Year to do our BSJA and Jump training and JAS events while keeping up with our dressage training at home with some local tests to put her under pressure.
I am really grateful to have my sponsors on board for another year as well as the support from Horse Answers Today, and hopefully a new addition will be joining my team soon.
The generosity of my sponsors has enabled me to run for a second year my Xmas giveaway featuring prizes totalling a huge £400.
Another great end to this year would be a placing in the Equestrian Social Media awards.
I need nominations in categories 1, 2 and 5. So if you have enjoyed reading my updates, following my progress, entering my competitions and getting involved in discussions please do put me forward for the best use of Face book, twitter and best use of social media by an amateur rider which is something I am passionate about winning. Here is the link. Thank you in advance.
